In just a few years, Béziers Méditerranée has enhanced its higher education by developing university courses based on a
variety of economic sectors.
By setting up a Knowledge Campus in the heart of Béziers, with over 2500 students, and by structuring qualified people around dedicated facilities and infrastructures ( innovative project incubator, company nursery, « Technoparc » ), the Conurbation is encouraging the creation of links between lecturer-researchers and local businesses.
This shared quest for innovation and an international outlook represents a keen determination to give a boost to the region.
A Knowledge Centre to encourage relations between researchers and companies
A genuine university campus, integrated into and open to the town, is developing in the centre of Béziers.
The centre contains facilities that are at the cutting edge of technology :
- the University of Technology ( its new BBC - Effinergie® Label building is currently being finalised ) has dedicated research laboratories and lecture theatres, and offers a wide range of courses in technological research and development ( NICT, Networks, etc. ).
- the Du Guesclin Centre ( a branch of the Paul Valéry University, Montpellier ) offers specific courses with an international outlook ( communication, e-tourism, etc. ). An extension of the current building is planned to meet the demand from companies and offer more courses.
- the Andre Malraux Media Library ( an HEQ building ) and CIRDOC ( Inter-Regional Centre for the Development of Occitan ), both directed towards the new technologies, are centres for sharing and exchanging information and ideas.
Varied, professionalising courses
The conurbation has over 2500 students and adds more and more training courses every year.
The aim is to set up a permanent dialogue between research and the business world in which training plays a key role by adapting courses to meet company expectations. The educational establishments are thus helping graduates to find jobs in profitable sectors ( sustainable development, innovative industries ).
